The Project
Subaru. Summit Point Motorsports Park in Summit Point, West Virginia. A blue BRZ tS and a red WRX on a wet circuit. Lyfted Media flew the FPV chase unit — confirmed client work for Subaru.
The Challenge
Chase cinematography is a different discipline from standard drone work. The aircraft has to match the pace of performance cars through corners, stay low and tight without ever becoming a hazard, and hold the line while cars drift and kick spray off a wet surface. One missed beat and the shot is gone. There is no fixing it in post when the camera is flying feet off the deck at speed.
The wet track raised the stakes for everyone: less grip for the drivers, more spray in the air, and changing light off standing water. The drone had to be aggressive enough to sell the speed and disciplined enough to never touch the racing line.
What Lyfted Media Did
We flew tight, low FPV chase lines: door-to-door tracking through corners, low passes over curbs, and drift sequences where the drone holds position while the car rotates underneath it. The wet surface became part of the look — spray, reflections, darker asphalt — instead of a problem to work around.
Every pass was coordinated with the drivers in advance, so the cars could commit fully and the drone could fly the edge without compromise. That coordination is the whole job: the best chase footage comes from trust between the driver and the pilot, built before anyone rolls.
FPV is the only camera that can do this job. A heavy cinema drone can't match a car's cornering speed at that altitude, and a chase vehicle can't get the lens three feet off the deck. The FPV quad goes where the action is — through the corner, over the curb, inside the drift — and the footage feels like speed because the camera is living it.
The Result
High-energy FPV footage that puts the viewer inside the chase — motion a tripod, a crane, or a chase car physically cannot get. A finished chase sequence, delivered for the brand.
